Main Artistic Program

BE is committed to maintaining its artistic innovation and integrity through the:

  1. development of vibrant and high-quality artistic product;
  2. creation of new and innovative work;
  3. development of emerging and professional artists; and
  4. expansion and exposure of new audiences to the arts and new art forms.

BE engages Lead Curators / Artists to take the artistic work that is produced at a program / community level and curate it to produce regional and national exhibitions / performances that refine BE’s work and profile its activity on a broader stage. The adoption of a lead curator / artist model provides the organisation with a greater ability to produce a broader range of larger scale work and give it flexibility to bring in new artists and develop and diversify the skill set across the organisation.

The Main Artistic Program involves artistic excellence, audience stimulation, innovation, development of artists and community relevance. Artistic excellence evolves out of a fusion between established artists reinventing their approaches to their art to meld with raw emerging artists identified in BE’s projects. The challenges presented provide innovative and exciting opportunities to all to extend their boundaries, develop their artistic practice and create fresh new work. Inherent in the process is respect for the communities of origin and the need for any works to reflect and respond to these environments. The resulting works are designed to engage both new and established audiences and to inspire their audiences to think, feel, question, and experience wonder.
